Portrait Series: Amanda A. Santos 2013
As
an artist I try to express myself in a unique and creative way. If the viewer has
to ponder about what I was feeling then I’ve done my job as an artist. I like to make people think, I feel like
there should be a thought process with art and the art should be symbolic. I
still new to the art of photography, I don’t expect my photos to be phenomenal
at this point because I’m still learning. But my goal is to one day be able to
take stunning, thought provoking images. For now I’m satisfied with my portrait
series, I think it’s a good start and showcases my potential and creativity.

My first impression of these series was amazement. A lot of these photos are very successful in certain spots. At a glance, I think it is easy to tell the theme of the series. Most of these photos have a warm-hearted feeling to them and I think it’s because of the lighting. The photo on the bottom right corner of the composition shows the most of that feeling. The composition looks divided equally, like each photo has their own little showcase. The photos of the eyes are an example of that. I think it was excellent to keep those photos together. A lot of the photos have a sharp focus to them except the bottom right one. If it were in sharp focus, the series would kind of lose that warm atmosphere, so I like how it is in a soft focus. The top left photo has a dark shadow behind the flower, which is what I think in the whole series feels dark compared to the other photos. If the shadow were lightened a little, the series would slightly enhance its effect.
ReplyDeleteEach photo appears balanced, most notably the top left and bottom right photos. The lighting of the series is very bright and adds to the atmosphere of the series. The photos are cropped nicely, especially the eyes to show the focus of the eyes.
The series overall is nicely done. The lighting is great, the composition is arranged fairly, and the theme of the series is well shown.
